The managers of information age companies cannot rely merely on data derived from past activities of the company and focus on improving existing processes. They need a frame for measuring values that result from strategic goals of the company, a tool, which is focusing on obtaining information about company's current success, as well as finding new driving forces to ensure the future competitiveness of the company. Strategic business performance measurement system the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is a suitable tool for improving the competitiveness of industrial companies. During its implementation, however, there is a conflict of perception of the importance of individual goals and measurable characteristics in partial perspectives of the BSC and its actual enforcement of the various strategic objectives in companies. The aim of this article is to verify the accuracy of BSC settings in an environment of selected companies in the Moravian-Silesian region with the emphasis placed on mining companies with the help of multidimensional statistics - factor analysis. The research took place in 2015 in cooperation with managers from the Moravian-Silesian Region (MSR), and it was divided into two kinds of research - quantitative and qualitative.Web of Science22444743

    Fourier-Domain Phase Retardation Vortex Measurement

    No full text
Optical vortices have found a wide range of applications thanks to their helical phase topology allowing to carry the orbital angular momentum. In this work, self-interfering vortex beams are utilized in a new single-shot holographic method for the circular phase retardation measurement. The vortices carrying information about the phase retardation introduced between two orthogonal circular polarization modes are generated by the spin to orbital angular momentum conversion. The phase retardation is stored in off-axis holographic records acquired in a common-path setup using a geometric-phase grating. In the proposed method, the circular phase retardation is reconstructed in the Fourier domain, surpassing the measurement precision provided by methods restoring the retardation from the rotation of a Double-Helix Point Spread Function (DH PSF). The developed method can be adapted for application to polarimetry, orientation imaging and diagnostics of nano-emitters

Comprehensive Virus Detection Using Next Generation Sequencing in Grapevine Vascular Tissues of Plants Obtained from the Wine Regions of Bohemia and Moravia (Czech Republic)

<div><p>Comprehensive next generation sequencing virus detection was used to detect the whole spectrum of viruses and viroids in selected grapevines from the Czech Republic. The novel NGS approach was based on sequencing libraries of small RNA isolated from grapevine vascular tissues. Eight previously partially-characterized grapevines of diverse varieties were selected and subjected to analysis: Chardonnay, Laurot, Guzal Kara, and rootstock Kober 125AA from the Moravia wine-producing region; plus Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Noir from the Bohemia wine-producing region, both in the Czech Republic. Using next generation sequencing of small RNA, the presence of 8 viruses and 2 viroids were detected in a set of eight grapevines; therefore, confirming the high effectiveness of the technique in plant virology and producing results supporting previous data on multiple infected grapevines in Czech vineyards. Among the pathogens detected, the <i>Grapevine rupestris vein feathering virus</i> and <i>Grapevine yellow speckle viroid 1</i> were recorded in the Czech Republic for the first time.</p></div
